Bigleaf Maple is native to western US, near the Pacific coast, from Alaska to southern California. As can be seen below, maple pieces can vary greatly in terms of coloration and markings. “Figured maple wood” is a unique design or pattern, or a distinctive mark on its surface - these are rare and considered very special by wood workers and artists. We have bowls with both “Curly Maple” and “Birdseye Maple” patterns.
