Oak - California Black Oak and White Oak constitute the majority of the oak on our property. These two types of oaks appear very similar - the main difference is in their leaves (black oak leaves are sharp-tipped, whereas white oak leaves are more rounded).   The wood of both types is almost the same in terms of turning - the different coloration and markings come more from the age of the wood, than the specific type.
